Our asparagus are grown and harvested in the Andalusia Region. It is a food rich in nutrients with diuretic and antioxidant properties.
Asparagus have a low calories intake but high in fibers intake. Therefore, they are considered satiating foods that help reduce appetite. They have Vitamins A, B1, B2, C and E, in addition to minerals such as magnesium, phosphorus, calcium and potassium. Its high potassium content gives them diuretic properties, making them a natural alternative for cleaning the bloodstream, ideal for those who suffer from fluids retention. The high content of folates makes them a good food for pregnant women. They are also high in antioxidants.
We use freshly harvested 12 / 16 caliber asparagus that are processed the same day they arrive at the plant. During its processing, the products are washed and classified before being blanched by immersion in water at 85º – 95º. This step is made to eliminate air from the asparagus cell walls, inhibit the enzymatic activity of peroxidases, better clean the product and decrease the microbial load. Then they proceed to packaging and pasteurization.
Asparagus are classified, among other characteristics, by the color of its spouts. They can be green, white or violet. White asparagus are grown by preventing the spikes from sunlight and thus do not forming chlorophyll.
